In addition, digital prints are not all that well understood by your average everyday art buyer, so in the interest of clarity, perhaps a few guidelines and ground rules are in order. Even though the terms giclee, digital print, and inkjet print all mean the same thing and can be used interchangeably and will be in this article , artists, publishers and galleries currently represent digital art in so many different ways that unless you know your terminology, printing processes and what questions to ask, figuring out what you’re looking at can often be confusing. And when potential buyers get confused, especially if whatever they’re looking at is priced more expensively than less, they tend not to buy. Or when they do buy and what they get turns out to be something other than what they thought it was or worse yet, what it was represented as– that can be problematic as well. So being clear and direct about what you’re selling and how it’s priced is an important part of making the digital print selling process work. Digital, inkjet or giclee prints can be divided into five basic categories: These are generally referred to as original digital works of art.
Should you date as well as sign a painting? How should you sign a fine art print? How can you identify the genuine signature of an artist? Where can I see artists signatures? What does signature status mean – and why does it matter?

She has received numerous awards for her work. Although she studied painting informally in Athens, Greece, her academic background is primarily in literature and theater, and she taught courses in modern American and European literature in universities in the U. Her study of literature continues to inspire and influence her paintings. There is no bigger picture or a linear logic here, only transitory images and words, seen as if rushing past the windows of a train.
From shifting perceptions, unreliable memories, and vague intentions and impulses we construct an identity and a personal and sometimes briefly shared narrative of the past and a possible future. Most of my influences come from literature, and two authors I often turn to for inspiration are Thomas Pynchon and Samuel Beckett.
These are some of the passages and lines that influence my current work: Afterward it is only this signal, really dross, this secular announcement, and never what is revealed during the attack, that he remembers. Oedipa wondered whether, at the end of this if it were supposed to end , she too might not be left with only compiled memories of clues, announcements, intimations, but never the central truth itself, which must somehow each time be too bright for her memory to hold; which must always blaze out, destroying its own message irreversibly, leaving an overexposed blank when the ordinary world came back.
His work focuses on capturing emotion and movement in candid moments from people all over the world. Unposed, and in most cases, without the subject knowing I was there. Each of these moments is unique to a specific time and place. But there is a universality in specificity.

My personal art notes and thoughts especially on pencil drawing and oil paintings. Two issues are significant here. The one is how you sign your artwork and the other is if you should date it or not. That it blends into your color range? Many questions, but the one you should answer is what are other artists, which are painting similar works as yours, what are they doing? Do you find reason in it?
I think the best option is to blend your artistic signature and date that the worked was completed into the artwork in such a manner that: It does not draw attention to itself. It does not compete with the focus point or main area of interest of your painting. It still contributes somewhat to the balance of the painting or at least does not skew the balance. But it must still be clearly seen on inspection.

With its front mane extending almost all the way to ground and curved tail, this splendid creature evokes earlier heavily stylized Scythian deer except for the absence of looped antlers. We are left to ponder the influences of art created by early Eastern Eurasian nomadic tribes on Chinese art and what exactly is uniquely Chinese in this creature. The deer is an important motif for the Chinese, symbolizing longevity and wealth and this lamp is one of many examples of oil lamps with animal-like motifs from the Han era found in Han tombs.
These exquisite lamps also played an important role in court life. Aside from their decorative allure, they provided illumination and, with better light in the evenings, people were able to extend their period of activity and entertainment began to thrive. Both the form of horse and rider are carved exquisitely in an abstract manner allowing the natural grain of the wood to complete the idea.
Exemplar prints, or known prints, is the name given to fingerprints deliberately collected from a subject, whether for purposes of enrollment in a system or when under arrest for a suspected criminal offense.
Print Email Do you sign all of your art? Many artists decide to not sign artworks because they think it interferes with the composition. I have been guilty of this myself. I did not autograph a couple paintings produced during my early years as an artist. I certainly wish I had signed them! Unless the individuals can remember I painted those artworks, or they wrote my name on the back themselves, I will forever be forgotten as the artist. In recent years, I have been signing my artworks on the back.
But, with my current unseen collection, I will be focusing more on having a signature on the front. Here are some general rules and guidelines of artwork signature signing that I am being guided by.

New signing for Roman’s art empire Updated: But now Roman Abramovich has pulled off the art world’s transfer of the season by hiring aristocratic Mollie Dent-Brocklehurst to head up his girlfriend Dasha Zhukova’s Moscow art gallery. Mollie has quit her job at the Gagosian Gallery in London, where she has been director for ten years, to take up her new role.
And she plans to travel to Moscow at least once a month as international director of the new gallery, which is being housed in a Soviet-era bus station. Miss Zhukova, the gorgeous daughter of Russian playboy billionaire Alexander Zhukov, will open the gallery, called the Centre for Contemporary Culture Moscow, in September. She says she will use her new position to commission artists to make installations like those in the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall.
But Bishop Urwin, confessing his fear of heights, lowered himelf down more gingerly. Yesterday, such rancour was put aside as the perky Gardeners’ World host joined the prince on the opening day of this year’s flower show. Among the highlights was the garden devised by George Harrison’s widow Olivia as a tribute to the memory of the late Beatle.

The exhibition will remain on view through December 16, A circle, seemingly easily understood, harbors one of our great mysteries. From ancient to present times, we have been perplexed by the contradiction between our ability to determine, without a doubt, the exact area of a square and our inability to fit the uncertain circle into that square. Thus, the circle has a bewildering hold upon us.

New signing for Roman’s art empire
Let’s find out… Yesterday, I received in the mail a huge canvas gallery wrap of a photo I took a few weeks ago in Tuscany. Trouble was, I wasn’t sure which to pick, so I went to the store and bought over a dozen pens and markers to test. Ultra-fine point top vs fine point bottom. I personally prefer ultra-fine but some people like the fatter fine point.
Seriously, the rest of this post isn’t even worth your time. Just trust me—that’s the marker you want for signing photographic prints of any kind on any medium canvas, paper, metal, acrylic—you name it!

The section of the hull with this picture has now been removed and is on display at the M Shed museum. The image of Death is based on a nineteenth-century etching illustrating the pestilence of The Great Stink. He claims he changed to stencilling while hiding from the police under a rubbish lorry, when they noticed the stencilled serial number and by employing this technique, he soon became more widely noticed for his art around Bristol and London. It depicts a teddy bear lobbing a Molotov cocktail at three riot police.
The message is usually anti-war, anti-capitalist or anti-establishment. Subjects often include rats , apes , policemen, soldiers, children, and the elderly. If so, it certainly wasn’t paved with good intentions. This was the alleged “road” to Big Island artist Dietrich Varez’s place.? The practical joke that launched an artistic revolution Taking the pee: Duchamp’s original fountain, bought from a New York plumbing supplier, disappeared – the one on display at Tate Modern is a replica Martin Gayford After a convivial and talkative meal, they made their way to the JL Mott Ironworks, a plumbing suppliers situated at Fifth Avenue.
Once there, Duchamp selected a “Bedfordshire” model porcelain urinal. On returning to his studio he turned it through 90 degrees, so that it rested on its back, signed it, “R. MUTT “, and entitled this new work Fountain. Thus was begun the existence of one of the most influential art works of the 20th century. Or at least a replica of it will, because one of the most piquant aspects of the history of this celebrated object is that the original was seen by only a handful of people, never publicly exhibited, and vanished shortly after that selection, signing and christening in
